growth spurts & temper tantrums with a side of the giggles, please

Hello June! First let me say that I have high hopes for you -- so, please be good to us as we enjoy all that YOU bring to us -- warmer weather, pool time and longer days. For Memorial Day Weekend, our family headed to Slower Lower to kick it on the sandy beaches of Bethany Beach. It was our first trip as a "Family of Five." One of our favorite beach rituals is a trip to the Rehoboth Boardwalk This outing has key components: the dreaded hunt for a parking spot, Thrashers French Fries, plush toy prizes, leftover Funland tickets and frozen custard. It's really fun for everyone, big and small, and this particular trip was no different. The kids rode the usual rides, won the random plush prizes and smiled brightly. Our days were spent in the sunshine, whether on the Bay by kayak or on the sandy beach of the Atlantic coast. Perfection. Both Gray and Piper are sand-friendly this season, which is comforting to us. They were entertained by digging, being chased by the waves and the animals we shared the space with. Again, perfection. Hadley was a gem as she slept and ate all day without complaint ... pretty chill.

In other news, we celebrated Piper Louise's 2nd Birthday over the weekend. I can't believe it's been two years already and terrific ones at that. Piper continues to keep us on our toes. She reminds me to smile and to laugh. Quite the daring little lady, her zest for life is contagious. She's quiet at first, as she takes it all in -- and so, at times doesn't come across as warm as she is - but she's quite warm, at times I'd even call her HOT (tempered that is). Piper's a firecracker and for this, her name is so fitting. Speaking of names, this weekend she began to address us, her parents, by our first names. She's a hoot!

Gray finished his first year of preschool last week. Gosh, he's so sweet at 3 1/2 years. Big brother Gray is really earning the "BIG" part as of late. While he continues to be fairly patient and considerate with his sisters, Gray seems to have hit a growth spurt. The folks at Giant feel my pain as I feel like I'm there every other day filling up the grocery cart. I'm just as amazed with his appetite as I am with his ever growing vocabulary.

Hadley Grace will be 7 weeks old this week -- wowsers. I reminded by many that she's still such a peanut, but boy do I feel as though she's growing so big, so fast, too fast really. So, we're enjoying her immensely and while she joins her brother on a recent growth spurt, her sleep patterns, at least at night, have become better and longer -- Yeah, Hadley!!Sleep is good, folks.
